I am a Research Scientist in the Astronomy Department of the University of Illinois. Until recently, I was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at UIUC with an appointment at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications. My research focus is studying the distribution of quasars across cosmic history. My specific interests include; constraining cosmology, and models of quasar activity and galaxy formation, by analyzing clustering within large surveys of quasars and galaxies; using binary quasars to constrain models of quasar fueling and galaxy evolution; quasar environments, statistical lensing (cosmic magnification) as a trace of dark matter; and the development of novel computational techniques to extract cosmological and astrophysical information from increasingly overwhelmingly large astronomical datasets. The majority of my collaborative work, internally at the University of Illinois, is carried out in conjunction with Professor Robert Brunner and members of his research group, particularly people affiliated with the Laboratory for Cosmological Data Mining.

Previously, I worked with the Extragalactic Astronomy and Cosmology research group at the University of Durham, where I obtained my PhD. I mainly collaborated with Professor Tom Shanks (my PhD supervisor) and Dr. Phil Outram on statistical analyses of the 2dF QSO Redshift Survey.

Some information about myself and my research can be found through the links below. I've also written a help page for scientists who are new to Mac OS X.
